Vaginal Discharge after Intercourse

by Anonymous
(British Columbia)

Why do I have excessive vaginal discharge after intercourse with my boyfriend? It happens every time we have sex. The next day I have a constant slow dripping flow of clear discharge and it is annoying. On top of that it doesn't smell wonderful either.

I keep myself clean but this is the only time I have an odor down there. Is it because I have an std or something? I am on birth control so I don't get pregnant, but we don't use condoms. Should I go to the doctor?

Reason for vaginal discharge
by: Anonymous

It could be that you have bacterial vaginosis. This is not an STD or anything like that. It is common in woman. There are prescribed medications that your doctor can prescribe you, but due to the fact that it comes back, people use other types of solutions. One common form is eating yogurt that contains live cultures: acidophilus. If a yogurt contains this it will be in the ingredients section on the label. The reason this is occurring is because of the ph levels in the vagina. The bad bacteria is taking over the good bacteria, causing this to happen. So try eating yogurt, or woman also dip a tampon in yogurt and put it into their vagina for a few minutes. This removes the odor. Well hope this helps! :]

Me too

That happens to me too after me and my boyfriend have sex. I use spermicides as a contraception so that may add to the problem too. But it doesn't mean that you have an std. It's just that all of those fluids have to come out of your body. So it comes out in the form of vaginal discharge.

If you are still worried it doesn't hurt to go to the doctor and get checked out, especially if this never used to happen to you before.
