Summer Jobs for Teens at the Library

Summer Jobs for Teens at the Library

My Summer Job as a Librarian being a teenager can be a bit boring, though it is fun most of the time. It makes you feel bad as a teenager when you don't have any pocket-money when school is out for vacations. That is why I wanted to work.

Once all my friends had planned for a 5 day hiking trip. The plan sounded exciting, but availability of funds was an issue to be thought over. Borrowing money from friends doesn't seem nice as they too try and save for summer trips. My saving is always less than I want, as I spend a lot on footwear and cosmetics. Though there are lots of working options available in summer, all of them aren't entirely useful.

I hate jobs which need to input a lot of working hours, as you don't get any time for yourself and friends. Summer jobs for teens that involve a lot of traveling are good, but somehow at the end of the day, you get totally drained out and just need to crash on the bed. The kind of job that would suit me would be something that along with some good money will also provide me some entertainment and relaxation.

I did prefer being a tutor for kids as I thought it would be creative. Initially, I found it good, until one day I totally gave up. I wonder how teachers really handle so many kids for such a long time. I am sure that career choice needs a lot of patience, which I don't have.

Finally I was offered a job as a librarian, by my friend’s father. He wanted me to fill in the place of his friend, who had to go away for the whole month. I wasn't really sure whether I could carry on that job, but the money that was offered for this was not worth rejecting. I started in the morning, and I remember the first day with all those books! I really wondered how to find out where to put each particular book, if any one needed them to read. But the task was very manageable.

The books were kept in different slots, properly labeled and in alphabetical order. It wasn't very difficult to search for the books. I would many times end up reading many of those books, as I would have ample time alone. I never knew I could read books that interesting. Conversing with book lovers was also enjoyable. I never felt as if I was really working there. These books became a part of me and made me feel comfortable. That whole month was pretty fun as I got to read as well as got paid for it. This was one of the best summer jobs I ever had. Finally I could go on that hiking trip and enjoy rest of the summer with my friends.
