Jobs for 16 Year Olds in a Pet Store

Jobs for 16 year olds in a pet store is not as fun as you would think. I worked at a large pet store in my area for the summer last year and it was horrible. I spent most of the day lifting heavy bags of dog food, gravel, you name it.

My manager was horrible, and I busted my butt every single day. The pay definitely wasn't worth it. Cleaning out a few animal cages are fine, but once you start getting to numbers like 30 and 40 it gets sickening. You would have much more fun working somewhere like the Gap or Old Navy.

So what jobs for 16 year olds who love animals are there then. I didn't know it was so much work working in a pet store. I thought you would have a choice of what position you took, but I guess everybody can't feed the animals, pet them, and clean the poop out of the cages. That really sucks though, I guess I'll keep with my dog walking business. At least i get to be outside in the light, and you meet some interesting people along the way too.
