Get Paid to Sew and Tailor
I wanted to let people know that there are jobs for 14 year olds sewing and tailoring. My mother taught me how to sew when I was 10 years old. So I have about 4 years experience, and I am pretty good at it.
It wasn't until this prom season that I realized the best job for this 14 year old girl would be a seamstress/tailor, whatever you want to call it. It was my older cousin's friend who couldn't afford the retail dress that she wanted. She saw one of the dresses I made for my cousin and asked me to make her perfect prom dress. I was nervous since this was my first gig, but it came out beautiful, and she loved it!
It took me mad hours, about 10 in total. But after taking out the money for the supplies I cleared $120. That might not seem a lot to you, but it is to me. It would have taken me six months to get that kind of money out of my mother.
So, if you have skills with a needle and thread don't overlook tailoring as good jobs for teens to do. You work on your own time, you can be your own boss, and the money is good. Things will probably slow down after graduation season is over, but people still have birthdays, parties, bar & bat mitzah's, you name it.
You will need a sewing machine though. But since someone taught you in the first place then you probably get your hands on one easily. Create yourself a portfolio with pictures. And really do the math behind each job to make sure you get the profit/pay that you wanted.
