You are too young to work at a commercial establishment like a salon just yet. You may be in luck if you have a relative who owns a shop, but a stranger would not hire you. In most states it is illegal to hire someone under the age of 14 years old, and even after that age they really prefer teens 16 and up.

That is why most kids your age do a side business on their own like a walking dogs, babysitting, cleaning houses, and pet sitting. If you know how to make something of value like bracelets or cell phone covers you could sell them to your friends and neighbors.

If you know how to do hair well then you could try going in to business for yourself. You could work out of your house if your mother allows it.
