What are the Best Jobs for Teens?

What are the best jobs for teens? If you are a young person looking to make money how do you find part time jobs for students that fit your skills? How old do you have to be to start your own business?

Many teenagers soon discover that money does not grow on tress. Especially once your mother and father start saying no when you ask for money for clothes, makeup, jewelry, video games, cell phone, and any of the other things you need in order to keep up. So what do your parents tell you at this point? That's right, "Get a job". But what are the best jobs for teens?

Most teens get their first job at 16 years old. They work after school or during the summer at places like McDonald's, Wendy's, Target or Walmart, these jobs aren't what you would call fun. You have to stand up on your feet for many hours at a time, deal with rude customers, unfair managers, and little pay. The federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 an hour, and most businesses that hire teenagers just pay you the minimum wage. That's it.

If you are good in math then you know that in order to buy a $300 phone, mp3, pocketbook, video game, pair of shoes, sneakers or outfit, then you are going to have to work a whole lot of hours. So how do other teens make money if they can't get it from Mom and Dad?

How old do you have to be to Start your Own Business?

What many other high school students have found out is that the best jobs for teens are the ones you create for yourself. So how old do you have to be to start your own business?

You are never too young to go in to business for yourself. Think of what you like to do. Can you make something that people would be willing to buy, like jewelry, hair accessories, or handbags? Can you provide a service that people would be willing to pay for, like babysitting, tutoring, or setting up wireless computer/fax/printer networks at home?

This is the key to make money at any age. Match a product or a need with someone willing and able to pay for it. After all, isn't that the basis of every commercial business in existence today? The earlier you master this concept then the sooner you can begin your walk down the road to financial freedom.
