14 Year Old Jobs – Teen Jobs to Work Part Time

14 Year Old Jobs – What teen jobs are there, where can I find them, and what do they pay? If you are a fourteen year old and want to work part time there is some information you need to know first.

The number of jobs available to kids under 16 is far less than those teens who are older. This is for a number of reasons. Probably the most important reason would be child labor laws. In most states in America the number of hours and the times of the day you can work are limited when you are under 18.

For this reason many employers do not want to hire younger teens. Also, some employers feel that at the age of fourteen many girls and boys lack the maturity and responsibility to be a good worker. They want to know that they can depend on you to show up for work and be ready to work whenever you are on schedule.

Even though 14 year old jobs are fewer in number, they do exist. Some fast food restaurants hire teens to work part time after school, on the weekend, and during the summer. This widely depends on your state and also the local manager's or business owner's decision. But establishments that have been known to provide 14 year old jobs include McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King and Subway restaurant.

How much cash do teen jobs pay?

14 year old jobs So how much will you get paid? Unfortunately you will not get rich working teen jobs, for the most part. If you do land work at a fast food restaurant you will most likely be paid minimum wage. Minimum wage does vary by state but the current federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, so you will be making at least that amount each hour.

A lot of teenagers your age have found that they can earn more cash by working for themselves. You have probably heard these suggestions before, but if you are good at what you choose to do, you can make at least $10 an hour or more. These self employment opportunities include babysitting, mowing lawns, washing cars, cleaning/housekeeping, shoveling snow, walking dogs, and any other service you can think of that people are willing to pay for.

The choice is yours. You can try to find work part time at a restaurant or retail store, or you can start your first business at this young age. You really have nothing to lose. Most places you apply for work do not hire right away, so you can try one the self employed options while you wait.
